Following the news of U-Kiss’ Kim Kibum and Alexander leaving the group due to the agency desiring member replacements, Kim Kibum recently made an appearance on KBS’s “Entertainers” to explain the current situation in a bit more depth.

Kibum's Interview

Hello, this is Kim Kibum.

First of all, I’m very sorry for having to meet everyone for this news.

And I’m immensely sorry for having to reveal my no make-up face… I’ve been having a hard time you see… (Laughs)

Q: What is the current situation?

A: My contract with my former agency has been cancelled. Around February, the agency told me that they would like to do some member replacements, and when I asked if it was me who was to get replaced, they replied yes.

First of all, they said my vocal role in the group was weak. I respected my agency’s opinion and agreed to cancel my contract.

Q: What is the reason behind “Kim Kibum withdrawing” being such a hot topic of discussion?

A: (Laughs) Well, I think there were a lot of areas I lacked in. I think my capability as a singer was lacking.

Q: There is talk that you withdrew to focus on your business?

I don’t know how that rumor came about. Because my activities ended after my contract was cancelled, for about a month I didn’t participate in activities during U-Kiss’ promotions.

To be honest, I didn’t say anything in that time because I didn’t want it to affect the other members. I think that caused the misunderstanding. Our fans were misunderstanding the situation, and were saying things like, “Has he stopped U-Kiss promotions because of his business?” and “If you’re going to put your focus on your business, then just become an entrepreneur”. So I think that misunderstanding came about during that one month.

Q: What is the response from fans?

A: There are a lot of fans who’ve told me to come back, and there are a lot who say it’s not U-Kiss without seven members. I’m apologetic towards the fans because of how this situation came out to be. They believed in me, so I’m hurt that Alexander and I had to withdraw from U-Kiss. I’m a bit disappointed that I didn’t get to stay on my will.

If U-Kiss becomes more successful with member replacements, then I guess I’m fine with that.

Q: What was your brother’s reaction to the situation?

My brother seemed really hurt that we couldn’t go right till the end together and that I ended up getting off the bus halfway through. He said to me, “I wanted you to do well; I don’t know how the situation came to be like this.”

I was okay with it, but my brother got angry (Laughs). But he said that things like this can happen, and told me to always have strength.

I’m planning to push forward with my personal activities, and I’ll work hard to achieve success with my character business.

I’m very sorry that I had to show myself in a situation like this, but I will do my best to show a better image of myself.

[NEWS] 110224 U-Kiss’ fans and family talk about Alexander and Kibum’s controversy

Due to the recent controversy regarding U-Kiss, their fans and family members have also reacted. 

NH Media announced that Alexander and Kibum were leaving the group and that they were recruiting new members. They said that both of them were quiting because of personal reasons but later this was refuted.

Kibum confessed that he was actually forced to sign a document in order to leave the group. Like we reported we posted a comment on his twitter account saying that he prioritized U-Kiss over the company he created with his brother.

Alexander’s father has also decided to speak about this matter and sent a message to Kibum. He left him the following tweets.

“KBummie, I’ll be always on ur side & by ur side & more importantly God is w/ us,” Mr. Eusebio said.

“Son, I know u’re hurting, we knew it’s not ur fault! Soon they’ll know the truth, & the truth will set u free!”

Kibum as well thank him saying, “Thank u father, everything’s tearing me apart. I’m still hurting.”

While Kibum will leaving the company, Alexander will remain on it but without being part of U-Kiss.

In the meantime KISSMEs around the world are signing an online petition in order to bring both members back to the band. So far they have already gotten 3,100 signs.

The fans are also criticizing the company, and have commented that Alexander and Kibum are important in U-Kiss.

We still need to wait to know how this story is going to end. However, it has been said that U-Kiss will make their comeback as a 5 member group since they have already finished the recording for the album.

[NEWS] 110223 U-Kiss’ Kim Kibum “The agency requests for withdrawal”

Kim Kibum recently talked about his withdrawal from U-Kiss.

On the 23rd, Kim Kibum said during a phone interview with Sportchosun “I didn’t quit the team, I was asked to leave. 2 or 3 weeks ago, the company said to us that ‘Changes is needed in U-Kiss. Two members will be replaced’. So I asked ‘am I the target of the replacement?’ and they replied ‘yes’. Since then, they keep asking me about contract termination every day. It seems better for them if I terminate the contract as soon as possible. They asked me to sign the agreement of contract termination and with the terms claiming that ‘I agree to terminate the contract with the agency’. I was asked to promise not to say anything until the next album come out, I am embarrassed of this. The talks about me leaving the team because of my business is ridiculous. Alexander hyung’s contract has not been terminated yet. I heard that he will be used only for international activities. It’s ridiculous.”

Kim Kibum explained the situation through his Twitter and Cyworld “Hello this is U-Kiss Kibum, or more specifically, an ex-member of U-Kiss, Kim Kibum. After two months of delay, I’ve finally plucked up the courage to write this post. First off, the agency and I have made an agreement to terminate about my exclusive contract on February 2011. As the agency desired a member replacement, we wrote out a consent document for a contract dissolution, and from that day on, I became a former member of U-Kiss. Contrary to what most of you might be thinking, this is unrelated to my Piro Piro business… nor is it about losing interest in U-Kiss. I always thought importantly of U-Kiss more than anyone, and I’m proud to say that not once did my Piro Piro character business impede my schedules with U-Kiss.. I always thought of the members as more than family.”

“I’m extremely upset that I have to part with them like this, but it was because of my lacking areas which warranted my former agency to desire a member replacement. I may be leaving on a one-sided decision, however, I was able to learn a lot and meet many people, as well as the U-Kiss members. My feelings are very mixed up on the thought that the few lines in this message could hurt a lot of people I love. I will continue my personal activities on broadcast. Thank you to all the people who supported me wherever I was, and I will meet you once again as an artist and entrepreneur.”

On the 23rd, U-Kiss’ agency NH Media said “Kim Kibum and Alexander had leave the team. Kibum left because he wanted to focus on his character business that he created with his brother, SS501’s Kim Hyungjun. Alexander decided to withdraw because of school and other personal reasons. After a long time worrying about this matter, they have been contemplating about this matter for a long time, and after discussion, we agreed with the contract termination.”

[NEWS] 110223 NH Media makes statement regarding withdrawal of U-Kiss’ Alexander and Kim Kibum

U-Kiss’ agency, NH Media, recently came out with an official statement regarding the withdrawal of two members, Alexander and Kim Kibum.

NH Media issued a press release on February 23rd which read, “We felt infinite happiness during the time we spent together with U-Kiss, however, after a long time of worrying, we made this difficult decision because we genuinely felt that the team needed member replacements.”

“With Kim Kibum’s case, we made a mutual agreement to terminate his exclusive contract recently. With Alexander’s case, he may be leaving U-Kiss, but after a very long discussion, we decided that he will be remaining with the agency to fulfill his personal, overseas activities.”

“We think very importantly of the time we spent together with the two members, and we’re thankful for the time we sweated together. Even though we have ended his exclusive contract, we hope that we can maintain a good relationship with Kibum, who is still a family member in our hearts. Also, as his former agency, we hope to help him in a variety of ways in the future.”

“Through these happenings, U-Kiss will reborn as a more mature and developed team. There will be two new members of U-Kiss who will reinforce the group’s comeback next month, and they are currently working hard with the other members. We will be revealing the new members to the fans soon.”

NH Media concluded, “We thank you again for showing interest in U-Kiss, and we apologize for causing concerns.”

[NEWS] 110223 U-Kiss' agency thought about the members' withdrawal for a long time

Debuting in 2008 with the album "New Generation", boy group U-Kiss has had many hit songs along the way. However, although the members of U-Kiss are planning to make a comeback in March, members Alexander and Kim Kibum have withdrawn from the group.

U-Kiss' agency NH Media has officially recognized the withdrawal of U-Kiss members Alexander and Kibum. The reason behind their withdrawal has not been revealed yet, but there has been word that Alexander made the decision due to personal reasons, including his studies. For Kibum, it has been said that the reason for his withdrawal had to do with business activities.

Continuing on, the representative hinted about the possibility of getting new members: "The other members of U-Kiss have been showing great interest about the idea of getting new members, which we haven't thought about.
